Hester The Punishment Doesn?t Always Fit the Crime The cherry-red Letter, written by Nathaniel Hawthorne is a book about Hester Prynne, a woman whose ane night of passion leads to a biography of punishment. It takes place in a Puritan society in the New World during the 17th century.
